About Us

'Sociology' is a discipline that deals with the scientific understanding of society. The Department of Sociology is one of the college's oldest and established departments. Here, Sociology is among the disciplines primarily opted by students in the UG program (BA). At present, there are two faculty members in the department. The department is working hard with the following vision and missions:

Vision

To equip young minds with a 'critical' understanding of the diverse social phenomena.

Mission

To develop a 'sociological imagination' as an essential pre-requisite to understanding society and culture in both the local and global contexts.
To cultivate multiple ways of understanding society to create purposeful futures for students in an ever-evolving employment market that requires sociological knowledge.
To develop human resources for leading roles in constructing a society based on equality, social sustainability, and inclusion.
