The Department of Botany, Govt. Ranbir College, Sangrur has grown into a well-recognized Centre for higher learning in structural, functional and evolutionary aspects of Plants. The department attracts students for Undergraduate studies from the local area as well as far flung areas of the district. In addition to teaching through modern techniques, seminars, symposia, workshops, invited lectures and botanical excursions are an integral part of academic programme of the department.
Library& LaboratoryThe department has a well-stocked Library with nearly 200 books. An Instrumentation Lab, with an attendant for maintenance, caters to the botany practical needs of the faculty and the students.
Botanical GardensThe Department also has the Botanical Garden. The botanical garden, besides serving as the repository of the source material for botanical studies, is also geared to cater to the dire need of conserving and enriching plant bio-diversity.

Vision

To integrate traditional Botany with interdisciplinary courses.
Mission
To Start the Courses in the Emerging Areas (as per UGC guidelines) in Botany and cater to the needs of time keeping in mind the benefit of humanity etc.
Programme Outcomes (PO)
- To create,and disseminate knowledge in various domains of Plant sciences.
- To develop interpersonal skills under the students to identify, analyze and solve problems.
- To encourage competitive learning culture and technical proficiency.
