About Us:
Chemistry is known as mother of all the sciences. It starts from the womb of the mother and go till the graveyard. Chemistry is a very useful subject as it helps in every sphere of life but if not used carefully, it is very dangerous. Department of Chemistry is established around 1960 in Govt. Ranbir College, Sangrur to help the students to learn the finer aspects of chemistry.
Vision & Scope:
Vision of department of Chemistry is to enlighten the society about the scientific knowledge. We make the students good citizens of country by inculcating the basic qualities of discipline, hard work and honesty.
Scope of course of chemistry is very wide. Students can go for higher studies in the subject. They can join various pharmaceuticals and chemical companies.

Learning Resources:
- Various audio-video aids are used for teaching.
- To make the sessions more interactive, quiz & seminars are organised.
- Chemistry festival is organised each year. Students also participate in various inter-colleges competitions in other colleges.
- From time to time various competitions like debate, poster making, scientific poetry and scientific rangoli are organised.
- Educational trips are organised.
- Students get an opportunity to join various jobs through placements provided by the department. IOL based in Barnala is employing many chemistry students from last many years.
Laboratory
There are two well-equipped laboratories and one store in the department of chemistry. Labs are quite spacious, well-ventilated and have all the equipments required for the practicals. All the chemicals and equipments are present in the labs on racks. Proper numbering of bottles have been done and index is present along the racks.
